Wojciech Szczęsny: Barça already looking to move on
FC Barcelona is already planning for the future of its goalkeeper position. With Wojciech Szczęsny's contract set to expire at the end of the season, the Catalan club has reportedly identified Dominik Livaković as a potential solution.
A two-step scenario
According to Index.hr, Barcelona is considering signing Livaković from Fenerbahçe for around €3 million, plus possible bonuses. But the Croatian goalkeeper wouldn’t immediately join the Catalan squad.
The plan would be to send him back to Dinamo Zagreb on loan for one season, before integrating him into the Barcelona squad in the summer of 2027. Livaković would then serve as backup to Joan García, who is set to become the club’s number one.
Significant international experience
At 31, Livaković boasts extensive experience at the highest level. He played 310 matches for Dinamo Zagreb before joining Fenerbahçe, where he already has 74 appearances. The Croatian is also a mainstay for his national team with 79 international caps.
He has played at the World Cups in 2018, 2022, and 2026, earning a silver medal in 2018 and a bronze in 2022. Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Barcelona is considering this move, while clarifying that no final decision has been made yet.
