World Cup 2026: good news for Algeria's Fennecs!

This Sunday, March 23, the Algerian national team began their preparations for the decisive match against Mozambique, scheduled for next Tuesday. A pleasant surprise awaited the Greens' supporters: Youcef Atal took part in the group training despite his recent injury.

During the match against Botswana, Atal left the field in the first half after a collision with an opponent. His substitute, Ahmed Touba, took over the position. Since then, there have been questions about his availability for the match against Mozambique.

However, his participation in Sunday's session at the National Technical Center of Sidi Moussa suggests a positive development.

Youcef Atal heading for a starting spot?

Despite signs of fatigue and a face marked by effort, the Al-Sadd defender seems in good physical condition. The final decision on his participation will, however, depend on the upcoming medical evaluations.

As a reminder, Algeria shares the top spot in Group G with Mozambique, both teams having 12 points each.

Tuesday's clash, counting for the 6th day, promises to be crucial for Vladimir Petrovic's men. A victory would give the Fennecs a strong advantage in the race for qualification for the 2026 World Cup.
