The Indomitable Lions roar once more! Cameroon dominated Libya 3-1 this Tuesday at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaoundé during the sixth day of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Led by their captain Vincent Aboubakar, who scored a double, and an inspired Bryan Mbeumo, Cameroon is back in the race.

From the first minutes, the Indomitable Lions showed their determination. Vincent Aboubakar quickly set the tone, forcing the Libyan defense into errors.

After several missed opportunities, the captain finally opened the scoring with a penalty in the 27th minute. Libya tried to respond but lacked precision.

Mbeumo orchestrates

In the second half, Bryan Mbeumo intensified Cameroon's domination. Benefiting from a brilliant pass by Carlos Baleba, he scored the second goal with a precise shot (53rd minute). Video:

A few minutes later, he turned provider for Aboubakar, who calmly finished for 3-0 (61st minute).

A tense end to the match

Despite the score gap, Libya did not give up. André Onana made several decisive saves to maintain the lead. However, Al Mariami saved Libyan pride in stoppage time (90+1 minute).

With this victory, Cameroon consolidates its second place in Group D with 12 points, just behind Cape Verde. On the other hand, Libya sees its chances of qualification diminish.

The Group D standings of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers after the 6th day:

  2. Cameroon: 12 pts
  3. Libya: 8 pts
  4. Angola: 7 pts
  5. Mauritius: 5 pts
