Sudan shared the points with South Sudan (1-1) on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, during the 6th matchday of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. This result hinders the Sudanese and reignites hope for Senegal, who are currently facing Togo.

Sudan missed a major opportunity to maintain the top spot in Group B tonight at the Martyrs of February Stadium. The Sudanese started this match as the leaders of this group with 11 points. After a cautious first half, the Falcons of Jediane and the Bright Stars began the second half with great intensity.

Sudan took the lead in the 76th minute thanks to Mohamed Eisa and seemed to be heading towards an important victory that would have solidified their position at the top of the group. However, South Sudan, far from giving up, continued to push and managed to equalize in the final minutes of the match. David Omot Sebit (90'+8) snatched the draw for the Bright Stars.

In case of a victory against Mauritania, the Leopards of DR Congo will climb to the top of Group B with 13 points, pushing the Sudanese down to 2nd place.
