World Cup 2026: Rising star rejects Ghana call-up

Elias Ansah has officially turned down the Ghana Football Association’s invitation to participate in the World Cup.

This is a major blow for the Ghanaian Black Stars. Head coach Otto Addo will not be able to count on Elias Ansah at the upcoming World Cup. The Union Berlin prodigy has chosen to focus on the "German dream."

He said: "After the Under-21 European Championship, I’ll consider the matter next year and make my decision. For now, I won’t be going to the World Cup with Ghana."

The young striker of Ghanaian descent was even more direct:

I’ve decided to dedicate myself fully to Union Berlin and to continue playing for Germany’s Under-21 national team.

Elias Ansah has been shining in the Bundesliga this season, netting 5 goals and providing 1 assist in 23 matches.
