With five months to go before the 2026 World Cup, Spain has every reason to worry about Samu Aghehowa.

It's a devastating blow for FC Porto and Samu Aghehowa. Forced off the pitch with an injury during yesterday's league clash against Sporting Portugal (1-1), the Spanish international has suffered a "sprain to the right knee with an anterior cruciate ligament injury", according to an official statement from the Portuguese club.

Further medical tests are scheduled in the coming days to determine the next steps. But already, both Portuguese and Spanish media are extremely pessimistic about the former Atletico Madrid prodigy. According to Record and Marca, Aghehowa's season is over, and the young striker is likely to miss out on his chance to represent Spain at the 2026 World Cup with La Roja.
