On Saturday, the French national team fell short in the third-place play-off of this 2026 World Cup against England (4-6).

While he admitted that Les Bleus should have "done better" in this match, Jules Koundé believes that the game for third place shouldn't even take place.

"Personally, I think it's a match that shouldn't be played, because as a competitor, it's very tough to go into it after preparing for just one goal: the final," declared the French right-back.
