Wydad Casablanca Push to Sign Sabir Bougrine

Wydad Casablanca have stepped up their efforts to sign Moroccan midfielder Sabir Bougrine. AfricaFoot reports that the club has opened negotiations with the player’s agent as it attempts to complete the move before the Moroccan transfer window closes.

What is Wydad Casablanca's stance on the player?

Bougrine is currently a free agent following the end of his contract with Raja Casablanca. That makes the deal particularly attractive to Wydad because the club would not need to pay a conventional transfer fee if an agreement is reached.

The 30-year-old enjoyed an important role at Raja last season, making 25 Botola appearances, including 22 starts. He recorded one goal and two assists during the campaign.

AfricaFoot reports that Wydad president Ibrahim El Asri has been directly involved in discussions with the player’s representative. However, no final agreement has yet been reached.

With the Moroccan transfer window closing, negotiations could accelerate quickly as Wydad look to secure the midfielder before the deadline.
