Fired by Real Madrid just days ago, is Xabi Alonso about to sign with Liverpool? Arne Slot is feeling very confident about his position on the Reds' bench.

Speaking to the press ahead of the trip to the Vélodrome for Wednesday night's Champions League match, Arne Slot was asked about the possibility of Xabi Alonso taking over the Liverpool dugout. The Dutch manager brushed off the rumor with humor.

"Xabi called me to say he'd be taking the job in six months! No, no, no... That's one of the weirdest questions I've ever been asked. I've been working here for eighteen months and I love what I do. We won the league, this season is more complicated, that's obvious." grinned the Reds' boss.
