Young Africans beat archrivals Simba SC 1-0 to retain the Community Shield trophy at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on Tuesday.

Ivorian attacking midfielder Pacome Zouzoua scored the solitary goal in the 53rd minute after Moussa Camara in the Simba goal failed to handle a powerful shot from Maxi Nzengeli – allowing a rebound.

This saw Yanga register their sixth consecutive victory over the Reds of Msimbazi, further asserting their dominance in Tanzanian football.

Meanwhile, with the result, recently appointed head coach Romain Folz has won his first trophy in charge of the Jangwani Street giants, having taken over from Miloud Hamdi in July.

On the other hand, Fadlu Davids’ woes against Yanga piled as the latest shortcoming marked his fourth defeat in a row against their bitter rivals.

Since the South African tactician took over at the beginning of last season, Simba are yet to score against Timu Ya Mwananchi, while conceding five goals in the process.

Last season, Davids and his charges lost the championship to their nemesis as they suffered a defeat in the famed Kariakoo derby in the season finale.

It remains to be seen whether the former Orlando Pirates co-coach can topple Yanga at the summit of Tanzanian football this season.
