Youssef El-Arabi has signed with FC Nantes this Friday, July 18, 2025, on a one-year deal with an option for an additional year. The 38-year-old Moroccan international striker joins on a free transfer after his contract with APOEL Nicosia in Cyprus came to an end.

The former Olympiacos Piraeus marksman is making a sensational return to the French top tier, fourteen years after leaving Caen. El-Arabi has penned a one-season contract with an optional extra year, having successfully completed his medical earlier in the day. The Caen native left Ligue 1 in 2011 to explore new challenges across Europe and the Middle East.

"I am very happy to come back to Ligue 1. It's a real challenge, and the fact that it's with a legendary club like Nantes makes it even better. Everyone knows FCN and their incredible record. From my very first talks with the coach, from our first discussions, I wanted to come. I know what I can bring to the team, especially with my experience," El-Arabi said during his unveiling.

The experienced profile of the Moroccan international fits perfectly with manager Luis Castro’s expectations, as he was searching for a seasoned striker to strengthen his attacking options. El-Arabi has scored 322 goals in 610 professional appearances throughout his career, a statistic that underlines his consistency in front of goal.
