Zimbabwe's national team, the Warriors, may have to stage their upcoming home fixtures abroad or in empty stadiums. The trouble stems from the death of a supporter on 28 September at the National Sports Stadium in Harare.

The tragedy unfolded while Zimbabwe were losing 1–2 to the DR Congo in their second match of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign. As a result, the future use of the National Sports Stadium for Zimbabwe's international games now hangs in the balance.
Micky Jr has indicated that the Confederation of African Football is set to announce an official ruling on what steps, if any, will be taken. Should that happen, it would represent a serious setback for Zimbabwean football.
It is a bitter twist for the Warriors, who had only recently been allowed back at the National Sports Stadium after years of being compelled to stage their home matches on foreign soil.
