🔴 FLASH: End of the season for a key Senegal player!
After already losing Habib Diarra ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Senegal faces another major setback. Malick Diouf, a key player for Slavia Prague, sees his season come to an abrupt halt following a severe injury sustained this weekend during the clash against Sparta Prague (0-2).
A terrible injury in the middle of the derby
During the venerable Czech derby, Diouf experienced a truly dark evening. In the 18th minute, a tough duel with Nigerian Emmanuel Uchenna turned into a nightmare for the Senegalese defender, who severely injured his ankle.
Attempting briefly to continue, he eventually left the field in tears. Taken to the hospital, he returned on crutches, his face marked by pain. Seen here:
A blow for the club and the national team
Jindrich Trpisovsky, his coach, confirmed the diagnosis: "Malick suffers from a fibula fracture. It's a huge loss, he was in full progression."
Having scored 7 goals and provided 4 assists this season, Diouf had established himself as an essential part of Slavia and the Lions of Teranga. His absence, combined with those of Diarra and Ismail Jakobs, complicates Pape Thiaw's plans ahead of crucial fixtures against Sudan and Togo.
Abdou Diallo and Fodé Ballo-Touré might be called up to fill this gap.
