England have been dealt a significant blow, with Reece James ruled out for at least the next two matches of the World Cup after sustaining a hamstring injury.

According to The Guardian, the Chelsea defender felt discomfort following the goalless draw with Ghana in Boston and did not train with the squad in Kansas City on Friday.

James will miss the final group match against Panama as well as the round of 16, should England qualify. His absence is a major setback for the Three Lions, who rely on his defensive solidity and attacking contributions from the right flank.

The coaching staff will now need to find a replacement. James’ absence leaves a gap that will be difficult to fill, particularly in the knockout stages where his experience and quality would have been invaluable. England will hope the injury does not derail their campaign, but the timing is far from ideal.
