Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz has made clear his side will not settle for a draw against Croatia, despite the result being enough to secure qualification to the knockout stages.

The Black Stars enter the final Group L match in a strong position, having taken four points from their opening two games — a win over Panama and a goalless draw against England. A draw against Croatia would be enough to see them advance, but Queiroz insists his team will not adopt a conservative approach.

A lot of talk about attack and defence, but I only know how to play for a win and that’s what we will do against Croatia.

The Portuguese coach’s stance reflects his belief in playing to win rather than managing the game for a draw. It also suggests Ghana will be looking to take the game to Croatia, rather than sitting back and protecting their position. The approach may be risky, but Queiroz appears confident in his side’s ability to get the result they need without compromising their identity.
