2026 World Cup: Iran finally allowed to enter the United States on the eve of matches
Major changes have been made regarding the travel conditions for the Iranian national team at the 2026 World Cup. While it was initially stated that players would have to enter and leave U.S. territory on the same day as their matches, a new clarification from U.S. authorities has altered these arrangements.
According to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Iranian team will now be permitted to enter the United States on the eve of their matches, rather than on matchday itself as previously announced. This clarification comes amid heightened diplomatic tensions and logistical challenges related to visa issues.
Based in Tijuana, Mexico due to these administrative hurdles, the Iranian squad will therefore have additional time before their fixtures played on U.S. soil.
This development is seen as a significant sporting advantage, as it gives Iran’s squad a more comfortable window for pre-match preparations, even though several restrictions and uncertainties still linger regarding their participation in the tournament.
