Germany's early exit in the round of 16 of the World Cup after a penalty shootout defeat to Paraguay will not prompt a voluntary departure from Julian Nagelsmann. The German head coach made it clear he has no intention of resigning and will await the German Football Association's (DFB) decision regarding his future.

Despite another disappointing World Cup campaign for Die Mannschaft, Julian Nagelsmann intends to continue his mission if the leadership renews their trust in him. The 38-year-old coach has firmly ruled out stepping down on his own accord.

"I will not resign. If the DFB wants me to stay until 2028, I will do so. If not, I will leave this project," stated the coach, making it clear that his future depends entirely on the federation's will.

Internally, Julian Nagelsmann still enjoys the backing of Rudi Völler. The DFB sporting director believes the coach remains the right man for the job, though he acknowledges the final decision is not his alone to make.

"Julian is still a top-level coach. I remain convinced that he is probably the right person to continue. But I am not the DFB by myself. This is not a decision that depends solely on me," he emphasized.

The coming days are expected to be decisive for the future of the German dugout.

The federation must now decide whether to keep faith in Julian Nagelsmann through to Euro 2028 or to turn the page after this premature World Cup elimination.
