2026 World Cup: Pape Thiaw refuses to give up despite defeat to Norway

Senegal head coach Pape Thiaw keeps his head held high. Despite the disappointment, he made a point of maintaining hope for the rest of the tournament.

Pape Thiaw reflected on Senegal's 3-2 loss to Norway on matchday two of the 2026 World Cup.

"It hurts. We had prepared well for this match to take all three points. Now, we've lost it, so we have to congratulate the Norwegian team. We were just missing that little bit extra. Football is a game of fine margins," the Senegalese manager said after the match.

Senegal's chances of qualifying have become more complicated. But fully aware of his team's difficult situation, Pape Thiaw refuses to throw in the towel.

"The players know it's not over yet. Everything can be decided on the final matchday. We have one game left, we have to give it our all and keep believing," he stated.

Senegal will now play for their World Cup future in their final group stage match.
