2026 World Cup: Sbaï and Saadane called up to replace Aguerd and Abde

Morocco has been forced to revise its squad just three days before its 2026 World Cup opener against Brazil. The Atlas Lions’ head coach has called up Sbaï and Saadane to fill in for defender Nayef Aguerd and forward Abde Ezzalzouli, both sidelined due to injury. The Angers striker and Al Fateh defender now join the group set to compete in the World Cup.

Abde Ezzalzouli, one of Morocco’s key attacking assets, suffered a right knee sprain during a friendly against Norway, an injury that will keep him out for several weeks. Meanwhile, Nayef Aguerd has failed to recover from a physical problem that has kept him off the pitch for several months.

These two changes come just as Morocco faces a major opening test against Brazil, one of the tournament favorites.
