2026 World Cup: Zidane highly impressed by France's run

Officially appointed as head coach of the French national team this Tuesday, Zinédine Zidane shared his thoughts on Les Bleus' performance at the 2026 World Cup.

The French tactician admitted he thoroughly enjoyed watching the Tricolores in action. "Les Bleus' journey was magnificent, the football was beautiful. I had a great time, and so did the fans. Every supporter was satisfied. We'll do things differently. DD is DD, Blanc was Blanc, Zizou is Zizou. I'll do what I know best. I want to build on this momentum to ensure France keeps on winning," declared the former Real Madrid manager.

Zidane kept busy following Les Bleus for five years

Although he had been without a club since leaving Real Madrid in 2021, Zinédine Zidane assured that he stayed very active during this break. "I didn't just sit around twiddling my thumbs. I watched a lot of matches, even more than when I was Real Madrid's coach. I watched the French national team closely, and I can say there is massive potential," he revealed during his press conference.

His contract with Les Bleus will take effect on August 1, 2026, for a four-year term.
