2027 AFCON qualifiers: Full schedule for this Friday

The 2027 AFCON qualifiers continue this Friday with fourteen matches and the involvement of several of Africa’s top teams.

After the eight matches played on Thursday, the 2027 AFCON qualifiers step up in intensity this Friday, September 25. Fourteen matches are scheduled across the continent, including several highly anticipated fixtures on this opening matchday.

The schedule will begin at 13:00 GMT with Tanzania-Guinea-Bissau and conclude with a series of six matches at 19:00 GMT. The main fixtures include Morocco-Gabon, Egypt-Angola, Burkina Faso-Benin, Algeria-Zambia, Senegal-Mozambique and Mali-Cape Verde. The full schedule for the first two matchdays was officially announced by CAF at the beginning of September.

The match schedule from 13:00 to 16:00 GMT

Tanzania, co-hosts of the finals alongside Kenya and Uganda and therefore already qualified, will open the day against Guinea-Bissau. Nigeria will then begin its Group L campaign against Madagascar, while several potentially evenly matched games will provide entertainment throughout the afternoon.

Algeria, Morocco, Egypt and Senegal take the stage

The 19:00 GMT time slot will feature several of the continent’s favorites. Morocco, coached by Mohamed Ouahbi, will host Gabon in Rabat, while Egypt will welcome Angola in Cairo. Senegal will also begin a new cycle against Mozambique.

Algeria will host Zambia at the Hocine-Aït-Ahmed Stadium in Tizi Ouzou. The match will mark Brahim Hemdani’s first official game in charge of the Fennecs, three months after their elimination by Switzerland at the 2026 World Cup.

The opening matchday nearly complete

In total, 14 matches will be played this Friday. They will enable ten additional groups to fully enter the competition after the matches played the previous day. The opening matchday will conclude on Saturday, September 26, with the two Group D fixtures: Kenya-Eritrea at 13:00 GMT and South Africa-Guinea at 16:00 GMT.
