In the first match marking Hervé Renard's return to the Elephants' bench, Côte d'Ivoire defeated Ghana 2-0 at the Stade de la Paix in Bouaké in the first round of the Africa Cup of Nations 2027 qualifiers.

Thanks to Malick Yalcouyé and Franck Kessie, Côte d'Ivoire claimed three important points in Group C ahead of their second match against Somalia.

Hervé satisfied with Yan Diomandé
