Full time. Senegal narrowly beat Ethiopia 1-0 to claim their first win in these 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. A narrow but valuable victory for the Lions of Teranga.

Mbaye rescues lacklustre Lions

Making his first start under Patrick Vieira, Ibrahim Mbaye broke the deadlock in the first half, well found in the centre by Nicolas Jackson, who had already scored against Mozambique in the 1-1 draw. The Lions pushed forward in the second half to extend their lead, but they came up against an athletic and defensively solid Ethiopian side that held firm until the end.

A timid start for Vieira
