At Cairo International Stadium, Egypt celebrated with its fans. In the absence of Mohamed Salah, who was rested, the Pharaohs thrashed South Sudan 5-0 and sent out a strong message after the frustrating draw in the opening round of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

An attacking festival in Cairo

It was a complete performance. Egypt opened the scoring through Mostafa Ziko in the 36th minute before continuing its impressive display in the second half. Omar Marmoush scored twice, in the 49th and 83rd minutes, while Ibrahim Adel joined the party with a goal in the 75th minute.

The perfect evening was completed by Hamza Abdelkarim scoring his first goal for the senior national team in the 90+2nd minute, confirming the continued development of the young Barcelona talent.

After a stumbling start that saw them play out a goalless 0-0 draw against Angola, Hossam Hassan's men delivered a major blow. Thanks to this emphatic victory, Egypt move temporarily to the top of Group B, pending the result of the Malawi–Angola match.
