2027 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers: Malawi Announces Its Schedule for Matchdays 1 and 2

Malawi kicks off its qualifying campaign for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations during the next FIFA window. The goal is to get off to a strong start in hopes of returning to the tournament after missing out in 2023 and 2025.

The Flames’ last appearance was in 2021 in Cameroon. Since then, the team has undergone changes. So has the coaching staff. Calisto Pasuwa took over for Patrick Mabedi in 2024.

Busy Schedule in September and October

The first match is scheduled for September 25 at Bingu National Stadium against South Sudan. Playing at home, the Flames will count on their fans to get off to a strong start against the group’s most beatable opponent.

The second match will take place on October 6 at the November 26 Stadium in Angola. It’s a tricky away game to kick off the series against the Chipolopolo. Group B also includes Egypt’s Pharaohs, the record-holders for the most appearances in the tournament’s final phase.

A chance to get back on track.

Malawi wants to start strong to avoid falling behind in the standings. Their absence from the last two editions of the Africa Cup of Nations weighs heavily. This time, the focus is on consistency and efficiency. The Flames know that every detail will count against opponents accustomed to major tournaments.
