A Cairo Homecoming: Mosimane Leaves Al Ahly Nostalgia Behind for High-Stakes Egypt Clash
South Africa national team manager Pitso Mosimane insists he will leave his personal feelings at the door when his side faces the Egypt national team in a friendly at Cairo Stadium on Sunday, following a nostalgic return to the city where he achieved massive club success.

An Emotional Return to Cairo
Mosimane returns to the Egyptian capital riding a wave of momentum, having secured two consecutive Africa Cup of Nations qualifying victories, a 2-1 win over Guinea followed by a resounding 5-0 thrashing of Eritrea.
The upcoming fixture carries a profound emotional weight for the South African tactician. Earlier this week, he visited Al Ahly SC, the club where he cemented his legacy by winning a slew of domestic and continental trophies during a highly decorated two year tenure.
Despite his deep ties to Egyptian football, Mosimane remains entirely focused on his national team's development ahead of Sunday's clash.
"Swimming with Sharks": A Test for the Fringe Players
Despite the high profile nature of the opposition, Mosimane has confirmed his intention to rotate his starting line-up heavily. The friendly will serve as a proving ground for substitutes, returning veterans and fresh faces looking to stake their claim in the national setup.
"We plead with you to be patient and support the boys tomorrow... They are taking their first steps towards shining and we need to assess their potential. Unfortunately, we are facing a massive team like Egypt. The challenge is that we are putting them in a very difficult situation, like swimming with sharks but on the other hand, we have nothing to lose" Mosimane told Safa.net in a direct message to Bafana Bafana supporters.
The Ultimate Goal: World Cup Preparation
Mosimane emphasized that with the immediate AFCON qualification objectives being successfully navigated, the technical staff's focus must shift toward expanding the squad's depth ahead of the grueling World Cup qualifying cycle.
"It is a friendly match and we need to see what these young players can offer at this level, so we appeal to everyone to be patient and support them... The fans must realize that we played the qualifiers and finished the job successfully which is the most important thing. It is essential to work on building a team for the next World Cup and if you don't play these players now when will you see them play? We will not have any other friendly matches before the AFCON next year, so this is their only chance" he explained.
