AC Milan: Ruben Amorim counting on Samuel Chukwueze

The future of Samuel Chukwueze appears to be tied to Ruben Amorim. Although his departure had long been rumored, the new AC Milan manager has made it clear that the Nigerian international is very much part of his plans for the upcoming season.

Ruben Amorim wants to assess Chukwueze. In his very first press conference, the new AC Milan boss surprised many by expressing his confidence in the Super Eagles winger.

"Chukwueze will stay with us. He can be useful to us," declared the Portuguese coach.

According to several sources, Amorim is particularly impressed by the player’s ability to beat his man one-on-one and wants to observe him closely throughout pre-season before making a final decision about his role in the squad.

A setback for his suitors

This decision comes as a blow to clubs that had hoped to sign the Nigerian this summer. Fulham and Trabzonspor were among the sides interested in his profile. While Samuel Chukwueze looks set to start the season in Rossoneri colors, a transfer could still happen if a satisfactory offer is made. According to reports from the Italian press, AC Milan could be willing to let him go if a bid between 24 and 25 million euros comes in.

In the meantime, the former player will have the chance to convince Ruben Amorim that he deserves a key role in Milan’s new project.
