AFCON 2027 qualifiers: Guinea overcome Kenya and revive their campaign
It is all over at the Stade du 28 Septembre. Thanks to a goal from Serhou Guirassy, Guinea beat Kenya 1-0 and revived their hopes of qualifying for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
A valuable victory to revive their campaign
Paulo Duarte's men held firm until the end. After taking the lead at half-time thanks to Serhou Guirassy's opening goal, Syli National managed to hold on to their advantage until the final whistle. Up against it after their 1-2 opening-day defeat to South Africa's Bafana Bafana, Guinea could no longer afford to make mistakes in Group D. This victory gives them the perfect chance to revive their campaign.
Syli move into second place
In the standings, Guinea move into second place in Group D with 3 points, three points behind the South African leaders, who pulled clear yesterday by recording their second 5-0 victory over Eritrea. Kenya, meanwhile, remain stuck in third place with just one point, earned in their 1-1 draw with Eritrea on the opening day.
