AFCON 2027 qualifiers: the schedule for the second matchday this Saturday

The second matchday of the AFCON 2027 qualifiers continues this Tuesday with 17 matches spread across four time slots.

The second matchday of the AFCON 2027 qualifiers gets into full swing this Tuesday, September 29. No fewer than 17 matches are on the schedule across the continent, with several major African nations expected to feature after a first outing that was more or less successful. Algeria, Morocco, Nigeria and Côte d’Ivoire will notably be looking to secure a second consecutive victory, while Egypt and Senegal will seek to bounce back after their opening draws.

Burundi-Algeria and Lesotho-Morocco from 13:00 GMT

The day will begin at 11:00 GMT with Comoros-Namibia. At 13:00 GMT, six matches will be played simultaneously. Algeria, who beat Zambia 3-1 on the first matchday, will travel to Bujumbura to face Burundi. Brahim Hemdani’s Desert Foxes will look to retain top spot in Group I. The victory over Zambia immediately put Algeria in control of their group.

At the same time, Morocco will face Lesotho in Bloemfontein. The Atlas Lions are coming off a 2-0 victory over Gabon and are also targeting a perfect six points from six. All the practical information surrounding Lesotho-Morocco has already been provided.

Nigeria, Ghana and Zambia at 16:00 GMT

The second major time slot will begin at 16:00 GMT. Nigeria will travel to Guinea-Bissau without Victor Osimhen, who remains sidelined with a muscle injury. The Nigerian Federation had confirmed that he would miss the first two matchdays. The Super Eagles, 2-1 winners over Madagascar, will face a Guinea-Bissau side that also have three points after their 2-0 victory in Tanzania.

In Group I, Zambia will host Togo. Ghana, beaten 2-0 by Côte d’Ivoire, will welcome Gambia, while Cape Verde will face Rwanda and Uganda will host Libya.
