Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen will be unable to take part in his national team’s next two matches against Madagascar on September 25 and Guinea-Bissau on September 29, as part of the AFCON 2027 qualifiers. The 27-year-old is continuing his recovery from a muscle injury.

The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) confirmed this Sunday morning, via its official account on the X platform, that Osimhen would miss these two fixtures as he continues his recovery.

The Galatasaray striker suffered an injury in the 33rd minute of the match against Başakşehir, in the fourth round of the Turkish league.

Medical examinations revealed a muscle strain and pain in his right thigh, requiring an estimated period of unavailability of two weeks or more.

With the “ Super Eagles ”, Osimhen has 52 caps and 35 goals since making his international debut in 2017.

However, his availability for the friendly against Russia, scheduled for October 6, remains uncertain. The decision will depend on the progress of his physical condition and the date of his return to competition.
