Valencia fortifies its talent of Nigerian descent David Otorbi until 2031
Valencia have officially extended the contract of Spanish born winger David Otorbi who has Nigerian roots until 30 June 2031 securing one of their most promising academy graduates for another five years.
The Spanish club confirmed the agreement on Friday 30 October, after the 19 year old established himself as an increasingly important first team option during the opening months of the 2026 /27 campaign.
According to Valencia's official announcement, the club exercised an existing contractual extension option, keeping Otorbi at Mestalla beyond his previous June 2028 expiry date.

Why did Valencia extend David Otorbi's contract?
Otorbi's impressive development has convinced Valencia to accelerate their plans to secure his long term future.
The young winger has already made 14 official appearances for the first team including nine during the current campaign.
He also scored his first senior goal against Racing Santander on Matchday 8 of La Liga.
His performances have attracted increasing attention, with Valencia determined to protect a player regarded as one of the most exciting products of their academy.
According to Spanish news agency EFE, Otorbi's new agreement includes an improved salary and a release clause increased to €60 million.
The reported clause represents a significant increase from his previous €30 million valuation under the contract, although Valencia have not publicly disclosed the financial terms.
From academy prospect to Valencia's youngest ever debutant
Born in Valencia on 16 October 2007 to a family of Nigerian descent, Otorbi joined the club's academy at the age of 12.
His rapid progress through the youth ranks culminated in a historic first team debut in January 2024.
At just 16 year, two months and 19 day, he became the youngest player ever to make an official appearance for Valencia, featuring against Cartagena in the Copa del Rey.
The winger has since continued his development, earning increasing opportunities at senior level.
He was also included in Valencia's starting lineup against Barcelona earlier this season.
Speaking to the club's media following his extension, Otorbi expressed his satisfaction with the agreement.
"I'm very excited because the club have placed a lot of confidence in me" he said.
He also praised coach Javier Aguirre for supporting his development and encouraging the squad during a challenging period.
Liverpool interest and Valencia's €60m protection
Valencia's decision comes amid growing transfer speculation surrounding the youngster.
Several English clubs have reportedly monitored Otorbi, with Liverpool among those linked with a potential move.
However, there has been no official confirmation of an offer or formal negotiations.
The reported increase in Otorbi's release clause to €60 million would significantly strengthen Valencia's negotiating position should interested clubs pursue the winger.
The extension also highlights the club's commitment to developing young players rather than losing promising academy graduates before they reach their full potential.
Could David Otorbi represent Nigeria internationally?
Although Otorbi has Nigerian ancestry, he currently represents Spain at youth international level.
The winger has featured for Spain's U18 national team, demonstrating his progress beyond club football.
His family background nevertheless provides an additional African connection to his emerging career.
No public announcement has indicated that Otorbi intends to switch his international allegiance to Nigeria.
For now, his immediate priority remains establishing himself at Valencia.
The youngster is currently recovering from a muscular injury suffered during the club's recent encounter against Villarreal, with no confirmed return date.
