Liverpool may be set to rethink their approach to David Otorbi when the winter transfer window comes around.

David Otorbi on Liverpool's radar

According to Football Insider, the Reds would be prepared to walk away from the Valencia winger if his release clause rises from £30 million to £50 million — roughly €36 million to €60 million. Despite their interest in the young Nigerian talent, the English club are prioritising signings capable of strengthening the squad straight away.

At 19 years old, David Otorbi is among the young players Liverpool are monitoring ahead of the upcoming transfer market. The Valencia winger currently has a release clause set at £30 million (around €36 million), but the Spanish club reportedly has the option to raise it to £50 million (approximately €60 million) under the terms of his contract.

Such an increase would significantly change the picture for Liverpool's hierarchy. While the young Nigerian's potential has caught their eye, signing him could become far less appealing should his price tag climb substantially.

Liverpool needs some reinforcements

Beyond the financial side of things, the English club's sporting demands could also tip the scales. According to Football Insider, Liverpool want to prioritise players in January who can make an immediate contribution to the team.

That strategy could therefore work against Otorbi, whose profile is more of an investment in the future. At 19, the winger still has plenty of room to develop, but the Reds appear to want to focus their efforts on signings able to quickly meet the squad's needs.

With that in mind, spending up to £50 million on a young player whose immediate impact remains to be proven may not align with the club's priorities.
