Manchester United: four coaches named to replace Michael Carrick
Sunday’s 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth was the final straw. It further weakened Michael Carrick’s position on the Manchester United bench. The English coach now faces an increasingly uncertain future as the club’s directors prepare to meet on Monday. According to reports circulating, the club’s hierarchy is considering finding a successor for him. The names mentioned include Eddie Howe, Julian Nagelsmann, Unai Emery and Fabian Hürzeler.
Michael Carrick’s future at Manchester United is uncertain. Beaten 3-0 by Bournemouth on Sunday, October 25, at Old Trafford, the Red Devils are going through a difficult period. This latest poor result has prompted the club’s directors to reassess their coach’s situation. According to Sky Sports and The Guardian, several coaches are being considered in the event of a change at the helm. Eddie Howe and Julian Nagelsmann are among the leading candidates.
Howe, formerly Newcastle’s manager, is highly regarded by Jason Wilcox, Manchester United’s director of football. Nagelsmann, the former Germany manager, has the backing of Christopher Vivell, the club’s head of recruitment. Unai Emery is also among the profiles appreciated internally. The Aston Villa manager would be a more expensive option because of the terms of his contract. Fabian Hürzeler, who is in charge of Brighton, has also been mentioned, although an immediate departure appears unlikely.
Manchester United has not yet announced a final decision regarding Carrick. The four names therefore remain options being discussed for a potential succession, rather than confirmed appointments.
