African bullets storm the League Cup.. Diouf and Sangare start for Brentford and Ouattara readies on the bench
Brentford have named two African internationals in their starting lineup for Wednesday's Carabao Cup fourth round clash against Sunderland, with a third available from the bench.
Senegalese defender El Hadji Malick Diouf and Malian midfielder Mamadou Sangare have been selected by head coach Keith Andrews for the encounter at the Stadium of Light while Burkina Faso international Dango Ouattara begins among the substitutes.
According to the confirmed lineups, Brentford are seeking a place in the quarter finals for the third consecutive season.
Diouf and Sangare lead Brentford's African representation
Diouf starts at left back alongside captain Nathan Collins, Jannik Schuster and Michael Kayode.
The 21 year old Senegal international joined Brentford from West Ham United in August, signing a five year contract after registering five assists in 32 Premier League appearances last season.
Sangare, meanwhile, retains his place in midfield alongside Vitaly Janelt.
The 24 year old Malian arrived from French club Lens during the summer transfer window and quickly established himself as an important option in Andrews' squad.
As previously reported by Foot Africa, Sangare was named Player of the Match on his Premier League debut against Tottenham Hotspur in August.
His presence offers Brentford additional ball-winning ability and energy in midfield as they pursue another cup victory.
Dango Ouattara begins on the bench after Hull City goal
Burkina Faso winger Dango Ouattara is also included in Brentford's matchday squad but does not feature in the starting eleven.
The 24 year old heads into the encounter after scoring his first Premier League goal of the season against Hull City on Sunday, 25 October.
His second half equaliser secured a 1-1 draw for Brentford, ending a difficult opening spell without a league goal.
As Foot Africa reported following the Hull City encounter, Ouattara's contribution helped the Bees avoid defeat.
Andrews could turn to the Burkinabè international during Wednesday's match if his side require additional attacking options.
Brentford target third consecutive Carabao Cup quarter final
Brentford reached the fourth round after defeating Birmingham City 6-1 and Reading 2-1.
Sunderland, meanwhile, advanced following a 1-0 victory over Hull City in the previous round.
The two Premier League clubs have already met this season, sharing a 1-1 draw at Brentford's Gtech Community Stadium on 5 September.
Wednesday's encounter kicks off at 19:45 GMT, with the winner advancing to the Carabao Cup quarter finals.
