Haaland, Gvardiol, Dias, Donnarumma and Anderson were given three days off after the defeat to Aston Villa (2-1).
According to manager Enzo Maresca's comments at the pre-match press conference, the purpose of giving the five players time off is to allow them to regain their fitness.
Gerónimo Rulli is expected to start in goal for Manchester City against Brighton in the League Cup, after making his first appearance for the team against Norwich City in the previous round.
The clash between the Sky Blues and Brighton will continue next Saturday in the Premier League, following their League Cup meeting tonight, Wednesday, with both matches being played at the Etihad Stadium.
