PSG provides an update on Kvaratskhelia!

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has successfully undergone surgery in Qatar. PSG is now awaiting his rehabilitation while also exploring solutions to compensate for his absence.

Absent from the Ballon d’Or ceremony on Monday evening in London, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has taken a first step in his recovery. Paris Saint-Germain announced on Tuesday, October 27, that the operation on its forward’s right knee, performed in Doha, was successful.

A successful operation at Aspetar Hospital

“Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has successfully undergone surgery for a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee at ASPETAR Hospital in Doha, Qatar. He will now begin his rehabilitation,” the Parisian club said in a statement.

The Georgian sustained the injury on October 20 during the 4-2 victory over FC Barcelona in the Champions League. After the diagnosis was announced, an operation in Doha had been scheduled. The surgical stage now gives way to recovery.

A return before the end of the season remains uncertain

PSG has not communicated any timeframe for a return to competition. A return before the end of the 2026-2027 season therefore remains an unconfirmed possibility. The success of the operation alone is not enough to establish a timeline.

The absence is all the more significant because Kvaratskhelia has just finished sixth in the 2026 Ballon d’Or rankings. He is the highest-ranked Parisian in this edition, ahead of Ousmane Dembélé, seventh, and Fabián Ruiz, tenth. This recognition highlights the importance of the player Luis Enrique must replace in his attacking setup.

Ezzalzouli among PSG’s options

With this in mind, Paris is reportedly considering Abdessamad Ezzalzouli, the Moroccan winger from Real Betis, according to Sport. This option would form part of discussions about signing a left-wing reinforcement in January, as reported by Foot Mercato. No agreement has been announced.

While awaiting a potential arrival, Luis Enrique has internal options at his disposal, notably Désiré Doué and Mika Godts. The challenge is to distribute responsibilities without overburdening the same players for several months. For Kvaratskhelia, the priority now remains to make progress in his rehabilitation before considering a return to match action.
