FC Barcelona: Hansi Flick asks the board for a defender
It is an obvious finding! FC Barcelona’s defence is too weak for the team to compete with the best clubs in Europe. Hansi Flick has made his request known to the Catalan directors.
The problem at FC Barcelona is partly collective, with a high defensive line that offers opposing attackers plenty of promising situations. There is also an individual component, with defenders who are far from being top players in their positions. The winter transfer window is therefore set to be decisive.
While Hansi Flick had refused to sign a defender, even though some people at the club were pushing for Christian Romero to arrive, with the player ultimately joining Atlético Madrid, the German coach is changing his mind.
Flick pushes for Finn Jeltsch
According to Sport, FC Barcelona have set their sights on Finn Jeltsch, a 20-year-old German centre-back who plays for Stuttgart. The Barça staff consider him an excellent defender. The only concern is that, with several major European clubs interested in him, his price could well exceed €50 million.
