Real Madrid: Mbappé and China, former national team coach issues warning

The controversy surrounding Mao Zedong has sparked the anger of the central authorities in Beijing and the Chinese public since last Tuesday. Kylian Mbappé’s Chinese sponsors have dropped him, while state television has partially suspended its broadcast of La Liga in the country.

Since then, the public apology issued by Kylian Mbappé has changed nothing. For José Antonio Camacho, who coached the Chinese national team between 2011 and 2013, speaking on El Partidazo on Cadena COPE, none of this is surprising. “They constantly tell you that you have to adapt to their rules, their methods and everything they do. They consider themselves the masters of the world in every respect, and it isn’t easy,” he explained, speaking about his experience.

A method unique to China

José Antonio Camacho even advised the Real Madrid star to hire “good lawyers” because “China cuts ties immediately, and then you’ll have to deal with FIFA, UEFA or any other competent authority yourself.”

The coach himself was dismissed from his position after a 5-1 defeat to Thailand that was tainted by match-fixing allegations. “They told me: ‘Your contract has been extended,’ and a week later they did not even want to pay for my return ticket. They themselves told me that I should take them to court because they simply could not admit to having dismissed me and pay me severance compensation. That is how things work in their country,” he recounted.
