Nigeria : Victor Osimhen va manquer le rassemblement de novembre ! (Officiel)
Nigeria are set to be without their leading striker for November’s AFCON 2027 qualifiers after Victor Osimhen suffered a fresh knee injury.
The Super Eagles face a major setback ahead of their November international window. Victor Osimhen is expected to miss Nigeria’s two 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Tanzania on November 13 and 17. The striker has suffered a left-knee injury and is scheduled for surgery, effectively ruling him out of the training camp.
Osimhen set to miss both Tanzania fixtures
On Friday, November 6, Galatasaray confirmed that an MRI detected a loose fragment in Osimhen’s knee following their 2-0 Champions League victory over Stuttgart. The club has scheduled arthroscopic surgery for Saturday, November 7,in Istanbul. He is already out of the match against Amed SK. No official return date has been announced, but his participation in Nigeria’s upcoming camp now appears highly unlikely.
Another costly absence for Nigeria
The 27-year-old had already missed September’s qualifiers against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau because of a muscular injury. Another absence would deprive head coach Eric Chelle of his leading centre-forward at a crucial stage. Osimhen has scored nine goals and supplied three assists in eight Turkish league appearances this season. Nigeria sit second in their qualifying group with three points from two matches, behind leaders Guinea-Bissau on six. They host Tanzania in Uyo before travelling for the reverse fixture four days later.
