Villarreal are already preparing their recruitment plans for the upcoming winter transfer window. According to L’Équipe, the Spanish club are closely monitoring David Mokwa, a 22-year-old striker currently playing for SV 07 Elversberg in the Bundesliga. His performances in Germany have reportedly convinced the Yellow Submarine’s directors to make him their main attacking target.

Mokwa attracting attention in Germany

Having joined Elversberg last January from Hoffenheim for a fee estimated at 1.5 million euros, David Mokwa quickly settled into his new team. The German club has provided him with a favourable environment in which to develop. A few months after his arrival, Elversberg secured promotion to the Bundesliga and are now continuing their campaign in Germany’s top flight.

The striker remains an important member of the squad. His performances soon attracted the attention of several foreign clubs, including Villarreal, who are particularly interested in his profile.

Villarreal have made him a priority for January

According to information reported by L’Équipe, Villarreal have identified Mokwa as their main target to strengthen their attack during the winter transfer window. However, no concrete negotiations have reportedly begun between the parties. The deal therefore remains at a preliminary stage.

Elversberg are also in a strong position in this matter. The Franco-Cameroonian striker’s contract runs until June 30, 2029, putting the German club in a favourable position in any potential discussions. Since joining Elversberg, David Mokwa has played 27 matches, scoring eight goals and providing one assist.
