Real Madrid: Benzema sends message of support to Vinicius Jr

On his Instagram account, Karim Benzema, who played alongside Vinicius Jr at Real Madrid, showed his support for the Brazilian winger.

Vinicius Jr disappointed once again against AEK Athens in the Champions League on Wednesday night. Once again looking short of ideas on the ball, the Brazilian never got past his marker in Real Madrid’s hard-fought 3-2 win away to AEK Athens. Vinicius will serve the final match of his suspension this weekend against Valencia, before the international break.

Still facing criticism in Spain, Vinicius Jr can at least count on the support of his former teammate Karim Benzema, who took the time to post a heartfelt message on social media. “Number one forever,” reads the caption of a photo showing the two men side by side.

José Mourinho comes to Vinicius Jr’s defense

Now facing competition from Yan Diomandé, Vinicius Junior failed to make the most of his start against AEK Athens yesterday and impress. At his press conference, his coach José Mourinho did what he could to defend him.

“I think he had a very acceptable game. He didn’t have an outstanding game, but neither did the team. The team had a difficult, solid game, but not an outstanding one. And Vinicius did his job,” said the Portuguese coach.
