A perfect record during the previous international window
Bafana Bafana emerged from their last camp with three wins from three matches. They opened their qualifying campaign by defeating Guinea 2-1 in Johannesburg before sweeping Eritrea aside 5-0 in Cairo. Mosimane’s side then completed the window with a 1-0 friendly victory over Egypt.
South Africa therefore scored eight goals and conceded only once across those three fixtures. In Group D, they lead with six points, three ahead of Guinea, while Kenya and Eritrea have one point each after two rounds.
Kenya are already assured of a place at the 2027 tournament as co-hosts alongside Uganda and Tanzania. Only the highest-ranked team among South Africa, Guinea and Eritrea will claim the group’s remaining qualification berth, increasing the importance of the November double-header for Mosimane’s men.
