AC Milan: Samuel Chukwueze’s absence confirmed

Nigerian international winger Samuel Chukwueze underwent surgery on his left hip in recent hours.

AC Milan confirmed on Wednesday that Nigeria international Samuel Chukwueze had undergone successful surgery in London. The operation was to repair a rupture of the tendon of the tensor fasciae latae muscle in his left hip. The Nigerian player has already missed the Rossoneri’s last four matches.

Three-month absence announced

According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Samuel Chukwueze is expected to be sidelined for around three months.

The Nigerian winger had been in excellent form at right wing-back before the injury, starting six of the first seven rounds of Serie A.

“AC Milan announces that Samuel Chukwueze underwent surgery in London to repair a rupture of the tendon of the tensor fasciae latae muscle in his left hip. The operation, performed by Professor Ernest Schilders in the presence of Dr Stefano Mazzoni, went perfectly. The player will return to Italy today, where he will begin his rehabilitation programme,” the Italian club announced.
