For the second time, the former president of Mamelodi Sundowns ran unopposed in the elections for the presidency of Africa's top football governing body.
Below are the three challenges awaiting the South African leader at the head of CAF.
Restructuring Interclub Competitions
It goes without saying that the current format of interclub competitions cannot help African clubs make the much-anticipated qualitative leap.
Patrice Motsepe will need to devise a new formula capable of elevating the technical level of the various competitions, notably the CAF Champions League, while ensuring greater revenue for the clubs.

Harmonizing the Calendar
African football has suffered over the years from the repeated postponements of various tournaments.
The primary blame lies with CAF, which has struggled to harmonize its calendar to be compatible with the FIFA schedule.

Developing Local Football
It goes without saying that Africa's top football governing body has not made the necessary effort to develop local football.
The gap between the continent's heavyweights and other clubs is significant, necessitating special attention from CAF to help some leagues become competitive.
