Ajax: Tolu Arokodare scores his fourth goal of the season
Tolu Arokodare scored his fourth league goal of the season in the Netherlands on Saturday, October 10, 2026, against NEC Nijmegen. The Nigerian striker opened the scoring with a header in the 7th minute and now has four goals and one assist in the Eredivisie.
After putting Ajax Amsterdam ahead, Tolu Arokodare celebrated his goal by holding up a Kasper Dolberg shirt. The Danish striker, his teammate, is unavailable due to a knee injury. The gesture marked the Nigerian’s celebration.
Ajax did not hold on to their lead for long. Tjaronn Chery equalised from the penalty spot in the 19th minute for NEC Nijmegen.

The Nigerian among the top African scorers
With four goals and one assist, Arokodare sits 12th in the Eredivisie scoring charts, according to the published statistics. He is also the second-highest-scoring African in the league, behind Algerian Anis Hadj Moussa.
Having joined Ajax in the summer of 2026 after his spell with Wolverhampton Wanderers, the Nigerian centre-forward continues to adapt to the Dutch league. His experience in Belgium with Genk, where he finished as the league’s top scorer during the 2024-2025 season with 21 goals, had contributed to his reputation as a finisher.
