The fate of the legendary Stade Omar-Hamadi now appears to be sealed. According to reports relayed by Elkhabar, the renovation work that began in 2022 has uncovered severe structural damage, making any attempt to bring the historic Bologhine district venue up to standard an exceptionally complex challenge.

Several technical assessments have revealed the critical state of much of the stands. Major cracks, cavities beneath the terraces, and advanced deterioration of the concrete structures have led experts to classify three out of four stands as being in the "red zone"—the direct result of decades of wear and exposure to the elements.

In this context, local authorities have reportedly opted to repurpose the site. The Wilaya of Algiers is considering transforming the area into a botanical garden, a project aimed at preserving the memory of this iconic venue while giving it a new urban and environmental purpose.
