Algeria: Himad Abdelli sets the tone ahead of AFCON 2025

Called up as a reinforcement for AFCON 2025 in Morocco with Algeria, Himad Abdelli is fired up just two days before the start of the continental tournament.

Initially left off Algeria's AFCON 2025 squad, Himad Abdelli was eventually called up by Vladimir Petkovic following Houssem Aouar's withdrawal. According to the Angers midfielder, the Fennecs are set to spring some surprises during the competition.

"As an Algerian, I'll tell you this: God willing, we win. Of course, considering the last two AFCONs, we went out in the group stage, it was tough. I think things have changed, there's a fresh start. We might shock more than one team, because now people expect us to go out in the groups. It's up to us to surprise them. I think in Morocco, we have every chance, because the facilities will be good, the pitches will be good.", the Algerian international told Foot Mercato in an interview.
