In preparation for the 2028 Olympic Games, the Algerian Football Federation has officially announced the appointment of Rafik Saïfi as head coach of the U23 national team.

Choosing Rafik Saïfi is a bold move, as this will be the 51-year-old’s first experience as a head coach. Before taking on this challenge, the former star and beIN Sports analyst served as assistant coach and then interim manager for MC Alger between 2017 and 2019.

The winner of the Algerian Ballon d'Or in 2008, Rafik Saïfi earned 64 international caps for the Desert Warriors. The Algerian Federation has thus chosen an expert who is deeply familiar with the intricacies of national football.
