Argentina: Paulo Dybala will not play in the 2026 World Cup

Like several other national teams, Argentina unveiled on Monday an expanded preliminary squad of 55 players for the 2026 World Cup.

Lionel Messi is indeed among those selected by Lionel Scaloni, despite the questions that have surrounded his participation in recent weeks. However, Paulo Dybala has not been included in this initial Albiceleste squad.

This first list combines the core players who triumphed in Qatar in 2022 with a promising new generation led by the likes of Franco Mastantuono, Claudio Echeverri, and Nicolas Paz. Around Messi, Scaloni maintains a rock-solid backbone with Emiliano Martinez, Cristian Romero, Lisandro Martinez, Enzo Fernandez, Alexis Mac Allister, Rodrigo De Paul, Lautaro Martinez, and Julian Alvarez.

As reigning champions, Argentina will head into the 2026 World Cup with a clear ambition: to defend their world crown.
