Arsenal: Mikel Arteta and the Gunners have an agreement in place to extend his contract

Good news emerged at Arsenal this Tuesday regarding Mikel Arteta.

The BBC has just announced that the Spanish coach is set to extend his contract, which expires at the end of this season. Arsenal's management and Arteta began negotiations several months ago. Earlier this month, the BBC had already revealed that an agreement between all the parties involved was close.

The length of the new contract between the two parties is not yet known. It should be noted that with this new deal, Arteta will have spent at least ten years at Arsenal. The Spaniard took charge in December 2019 in north London.

Arteta will earn significantly more than the €13 million per year he currently receives. Asked recently about a new contract, Arteta was very clear: « The supporters don't need to worry about that because I want to be here. I am extremely happy and very grateful to be able to work with these people. »

As a reminder, Arteta led Arsenal to their first league title since 2004 last May. Last month, the Community Shield was won after a 3-0 victory over Manchester City. At the beginning of his tenure, Arteta had also managed to win the FA Cup.
